We have been practicing Korean number system in the earlier posts.
This time, let's see how to count South Korean money.
South Korean currency
South Korean currency is ' won, 원 '. And the symbol of it is '₩'
지폐 jipye 동전 dong-jeon
There are four different notes (지폐) and four different coins (동전) .

The notes are
□ 1000won = 천원 cheon-won
□ 5000won = 오천원 ohcheon-won
□ 10000won = 만원 mahn-won
□ 50000won = 오만원 ohmahn-won
The coins are
□ 10won = 십원 shib-won
□ 50won = 오십원 ohshib-won
□ 100won = 백원 baek-won
□ 500won = 오백원 ohbaek-won
(There are 1won and 5won but you rarely see them.)
1000won (천원 cheon-won) is approximately a little less than a dollar, so notes are more commonly used and coins are the ones that you would most likely to see when you get change.
And the number is quite large so some cafes and restaurants display the price of their menu as 10.0 instead of ₩10000 (만원 mahn-won) .
